Ham Drive Nursery School and Day Care is one of two schools in the Plymouth Nursery Schools Federation, along with Plym Bridge Nursery School and Day Care. The Federation was created in January 2014 and is under the leadership of a Governing Body and an Executive Headteacher.
Ham Drive also benefits from a 37 place Day Care provision which is managed by the Governing Body and caters for children from 3 months to 5 years and provides places for the Me2 funding scheme.
Ham Drive Nursery School is a purpose built school, which opened in September 1980. In November 2001 as part of the Sure Start project a new building was added enabling a wider range of services to be offered to young children and their families.
In 2014 the school underwent a complete internal refurbishment as well as relocating the Day Care provision to the opposite end of the building, thereby giving access to the outdoor learning environment for all the children. The Nursery School building is of a modern bungalow style, which consists of a spacious classroom with additional smaller rooms. There is a well-equipped kitchen area.
The Nursery School has a large attractive garden area, housing plants and trees; recent work has further improved the area, providing an outside extension to the classroom.
The school also benefits from a dedicated sensory room for the use of all children in the nursery including those with additional needs, which has been relocated as a result of the internal refurbishment.
